AUCTION LOCATION/BIDDING:

Animals will be sold via photo/video at the Custer State Park Visitor Center with live internet bidding available. 

 

Online Pre-Bidding is not available for this auction.  Online bidders are required to login and bid live auction day.  Online bidders do have the option to register early, but bidding is only open auction day.

 

The auctioneer will offer the animals in lots using one of two methods. CHOICE method - high bidder can choose individual animals by tag number in the lot from one to all. GATE CUT method - high bidder can take any quantity of animals in the lot from one to all but cannot choose specific animals. The method used for each lot is noted in each individual lot description. 

 

DIRECTIONS TO AUCTION LOCATION:

Auction is held at the CSP Visitor Center, 13438 US HWY 16A - Custer, SD 57730. It is east of the State Game Lodge and just north of the junction of Wildlife Loop Road and 16A. LOOK FOR AUCTION SIGNS!

 

ANIMAL VIEWING:

Staff will be available all day at the Custer State Park bison corrals on Friday, November 3 and on sale day (Saturday, November 4) until 9:00 a.m. All other times are by appointment only.  Call the Custer State Park Administrative Office at (605) 394-2693

 

DIRECTIONS TO CORRALS FOR VIEWING AND LOADOUT:

Take Highway 16A east of Custer 15 miles to the Wildlife Loop Road, and then 9 miles south on the Loop Road to the corrals. From Rapid City, take Highway 79 south for 33 miles, then turn west on to South Lame Johnny Road (Custer County Road #16) for 5 miles. From the Visitor Center, turn left out of the lot and go south on Wildlife Loop Road for 9 miles to the corrals.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Animals will be sold in lots by either choice or gate cut.
  • Full payment due day of sale.
  • First time buyers must present an irrevocable bank letter of credit guaranteeing payment of any check.
  • All bison are Brucellosis tested.
  • Bison are not TB tested. If required by importing state, testing can be done at buyer’s expense at the park corrals. Animals will not be able to travel until Tuesday, November 7.
  • Health tests expire on Wednesday, November 8.
  • All bison must be loaded out by 4:30 p.m. On November 8 unless arrangements have been made with Custer State Park.
  • Yardage fees after November 10 will be $5/per head/per day.
  • CSP corrals available for additional testing upon buyer’s request and expense.
  • Buyers are asked to make arrangements and obtain needed permits from their home state veterinarians.
  • Field slaughter will be available upon arrangement Monday, November 6 through Friday, November 10.
  • Please note: Sales numbers are subject to change as date gets closer
  • All calves are weaned the week of October 9th.
  • All calves preconditioned with Vision 7 20/20, Pyramid 5+ Presponse, Cydectin Pour-On Dewormer.
  • All females are OCV unless noted in the sale catalog.

This is a live public auction with online webcast bidding available. Online bidders will be bidding against live onsite bidders. There can be a slight audio/video delay on auction day. If you are bidding online do not wait, bid early to ensure you do not miss out.
