The “Light” cut bull and heifer calves are retained annually and sold next year as Yearling Bulls, yearling heifers are traditionally kept for replacements. 50+ of these mixed calves are from the Rock Creek Tribal Pasture.  These calves are all from Brownotter Cows/Bulls.  They are building their herd annually!

Staff will be available all day at the Custer State Park bison corrals on Friday, November 5, 2021 and sale day (Saturday, Nov. 6) until 9:00 a.m. All other times are by appointment only. Contact Bison Herd Manager, Chad Kremer at (605) 225-4515  to set up an appointment. DIRECTIONS TO CORRALS FOR VIEWING AND LOADOUT: Take Highway 16A east of Custer 15 miles to the Wildlife Loop Road, and then 9 miles south on the Loop Road to the corrals. From Rapid City, take Highway 79 south for 33 miles, then turn west on to South Lame Johnny Road (Custer County Road #16) for 5 miles. From the Visitor Center, turn left out of the lot and go south on Wildlife Loop Road for 9 miles to the corrals.
